Sharanam means refuge.
The center is named for the Sanskrit word for a place of shelter. It is meant to be one, for the people who work here and for the people they work with.
Sharanam Center is a rentable space for mental health and wellness professionals in Akron, Ohio, in the Cuyahoga Valley area. It offers furnished offices and a quiet studio in blocks of time per month (minimum 8 hours per month), along with a shared waiting room and a kitchen, so providers can see clients without taking on a long commercial lease.
A building with a practice of its own
The center is also a place where stillness is practiced. On Sundays there is a one-hour group of light yoga and meditation, and from time to time a guided day of silent retreat. They are open to the providers who rent here, to their clients and to anyone who wants a quiet hour.
